Trader Joe’s is located just off Interstate 35 in West Des Moines, on Mills Civic Parkway, near the hustle and bustle of Jordan Creek Towncenter. I’ve found some of my favorite products there that make it an almost weekly stop for our family despite the sometimes hectic parking and traffic.
Why I Shop at Trader Joe’s
I love that you can get flowers, produce, and other great products at great prices. I also love that Trader Joe’s offers unique products you can’t really find anywhere else. Not only can we pick up our staples (milk, butter, eggs, etc) but we can always find something new and yummy to try. Most everything we’ve tried has been a winner!
Where do I start? We’ve found so many favorites that always make our list. Here are a few of our go-to items that always sneak their way into our cart!
Chocolate-covered banana slices and strawberry slices- We love these frozen treats so much! Bananas and strawberries dipped in chocolate- eaten right out of the freezer? A mom and kid approved treat.
Cold brew coffee- I love their cold brew coffee. I serve mine over ice and a little creamer- delicious!
Mini peanut butter cups- do I really need to explain! 🙂
Peanut butter filled pretzels– again, I don’t think this needs explaining!
Everything But the Bagel Seasoning– you guys. If you go to Trader Joe’s JUST for this seasoning- I won’t blame you. I sprinkle this stuff on so much! But the best combo is avocado toast, topped with an egg, with a sprinkle of this stuff- OUT OF THIS WORLD!! GO GET SOME!
Chicken sausages- I love their assortment of chicken sausages- we love grilling ours in the summer months especially. I also recently cut some up, threw it on a baking sheet with a bunch of veggies and baked it in the oven. Super easy and delicious!
Fresh cut flowers- It’s not often you will see me walk out without a fresh bouquet of flowers from Trader Joe’s. Not only are their bouquets beautiful and fresh, but the price is also great, too!
Seasonal Fall candles- They have a pumpkin vanilla soy candle that I love. I just stocked up on it during our last trip there. I also picked up a newer scent- Honeycrisp apple. I lit it this afternoon and my house filled with a delicious apple scent.
Why I recommend shopping at Trader Joe’s
If all the above items aren’t enough- one of my favorite things about shopping there is the customer experience and kid-friendly atmosphere. They have kid-sized carts (enter frantic mom constantly reminding her kids not to run over people’s ankles or displays) and they also have a stuffed, pink pig that they move around- if the kids find it- they can tell the cash register and they can get a sucker or stickers.
My kids love going to Trader Joe’s and as long as they don’t run anyone over, they love finding the pig and getting a sucker or stickers at the end of the trip. The employees are so friendly and helpful and I find that things are always well stocked.
I’d love to hear if you shop at Trader Joe’s and what your favorite products are. If you haven’t been- what do you want to try!? Sound off in the comments!
