My Mommy Secrets

  • If I’m having a particularly hard day with the kids, I load them up in the car and hit McDonald’s drive thru for a Diet Coke and drive around town for a little bit. There is something refreshing about enjoying my cold and tasty treat while my kids are safely strapped in their car seats.
  • I hate bubbles and the only time my kids get to play with them is at other people’s houses. Bubbles are sticky and messy and always end up spilled all over the place. The funny thing is that I am pretty laid back and don’t care if my kids get mud, chalk, etc. all over them, but there is just something about bubbles that puts me over the edge.
  • When my youngest was a newborn I would often stay up rocking him in the middle of the night long after he would fall asleep. I loved the peace and quiet of the night when all I could hear was my baby breathing.
  • I am not great at playing with my kids. We read and do crafts and play outside  and go on lots of fun adventures, but when it come to actually playing superheros or cars I’m just not great at it. My husband on the other hand would play on the floor with the boys for hours.
  • I loved giving birth. I really enjoyed the whole experience from the labor and delivery to the stay in the hospital. Giving birth was probably the most empowering and rewarding experience in my life and those first few days with your new baby are just so incredibly magical.
  • My oldest son thinks that the car carts at the grocery store are constantly “broken.” I can’t navigate those crazy things without taking out an entire end-cap, so it just so happens that the carts are never in working condition when I go to the store. I wonder how much longer I have until he finds out the truth…
  • Both of my children have almost 5,000 pictures documenting the first year of their life.  I can’t bring myself to go through and delete any of them (even if there are 50  pictures of the same exact thing) because I always have the best of intentions of printing them out and putting them in an album.
  • One of my favorite things to do with my oldest son is let him stay up past his bed time and lay in our bed and talk with him. We laugh and cuddle and I get to know him a little better every time.
  • I try to feed my kids healthy food and think I do a pretty good job of feeding them good and wholesome food while adding in the occasional treat. However, a few weeks ago I started to think back on all the  fruit snack packages I had opened for my oldest and  ended up counting 5. Please do not tell his dentist.
  • I often find myself looking at my husband and my two boys and not believing that I am actually living this blessed life. I grew up always wanting to be a mom and in my mind I had a house full of little girls. Lucky for me God knew that my heart needed these boys and I could not be happier to have the family that He gave me.603707_593866859620_1842091771_n

What are your Mommy secrets?

  1. I used to do more of the load the kids up and take them for a ride when they were younger. Especially if one was sick or wouldn’t nap long we went for a drive! I agree I don’t really like bubbles either.

  2. I am a first time mom with a 10 week old son. I found this so inspiring as I sit here at 1:14am rocking my baby in the peace and quiet.
