Meet Eva Morales

Hello! My name is Eva, and I’m so excited to be a part of the DMM team! I consider myself a pretty open book and I love taking in new information, which is why I’m looking forward to using the DMM platform to bond with you over similar experiences, create new connections, and learn from you along the way.

I’m a first-generation Latina and grew up in a small but very diverse town in northwest Iowa. I’m an ISU grad (GO CYCLONES) and moved to Des Moines for law school. I love living and working in the DSM metro area! I’m a prosecutor with the Polk County Attorney’s Office where I handle primarily child welfare cases. Although it’s an emotionally heavy and difficult line of work, it’s also incredibly fulfilling and I’m very grateful to have a career that I love.

My husband, Zack, is originally from Pennsylvania, but is now an Iowa captive thanks to me! He works for Facebook doing something I don’t really understand and is also in the Army Reserves. He was deployed shortly after we were married and served in Iraq and Kuwait.

Our daughter, Kate (2019), is pure joy and full of magic! I had a high-risk pregnancy and was put on bed rest at 20 weeks. Kate was a preemie and the NICU at Blanks Children’s Hospital will forever hold a special place in our hearts. I share openly about these experiences to raise awareness and normalize the conversation around these topics, but also as part of my own processing and healing.

I love podcasts, personality tests (type 3; ESFJ; type A; questioner), and lukewarm coffee. Arrested Development is my fave, but Ted Lasso is a close second. I’m a recovering perfectionist and learning the meaning of “surrender” and “grace” every day. Overall, I’m just a work in progress. I’m so excited to share, learn, and grow with you along the way!
