Late spring is prime time for berry picking in Des Moines and Central Iowa. We can’t think of anything better than the taste of freshly picked fruit.
Berry picking is a great family activity–kids love seeing where the food grows and everyone loves fresh berries!
Check out these local farms for a variety of berry crops, or look for fresh fruit at one of the many area farmers markets.
Going to a farm and being outside away from crowds to get fresh, local produce is a fun and educational family activity. Please check with the farm before you go, both to check on crop availability and make sure that they’re open, given rapidly changing state requirements for businesses and people due to Coronavirus.
