5 Things to do for Winter Break in Des Moines
- Try Bouldering at Jester Park
The Jester Park Outdoor Recreation and Wellness Center is a great place to try bouldering for kids and adults to burn off some energy. For $5 you can enjoy the bouldering room. They also have bags and checkers, or you can try archery or air rifle.
Head to Seven Oaks in Boone and hit the slopes! Iowa may not have mountains, but Seven Oaks has a hill and a lift with great options for snowboarding, skiing, and snow tubing.
3. Go Ice Skating
Embrace the cold and check out one of the outdoor ice skating rinks around town. If you need to rent skates, Brenton Skating Plaza in downtown Des Moines has everything you need.
4. Catch a Basketball or Hockey game
Des Moines may not have any professional teams, but there are still plenty of chances to catch a game. Cheer on the Iowa Wolves, Iowa Wild, or check out a Drake basketball game.
