Being a St. Louis native, there are many things I absolutely love about the city, especially this year with all the extra excitement with the big 250th birthday bash celebration. But I have to share with you an amazing vacation my family recently took to the 281- acre wildlife preserve at Anheuser Busch’s Grant’s Farm. It is absolutely one of the best times I have had with my son and family in a long time, thanks to Grant’s Farm providing me and my family with a complimentary VIP experience.
Grant’s Farm is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year. This destination is definitely near and dear to my heart as I have my own wonderful memories visiting there as a child. (I will spare you the pictures of me there when I was three.) It is an extremely affordable, fun, and educational place to visit, and here is why your family should visit, too:
Affordable and Fun
Grant’s Farm really is a getaway for all ages and offers FREE General Admission (minimal parking fee). If you simply want to have a fun-filled day, you can enjoy feeding the animals at one of their amazing animal attractions or take a ride on the paddle boats or tram rides that pass through their beautiful wildlife preserve which features over 1,000 different animal species, camel rides, face painting, carousel rides, and so much more. Our favorite thing on our trip was witnessing this little kangaroo performing several dances and clapping routines. Absolutely amazing!!
Historical and Educational
If you want to take a trip and combine education, German culture, and history all into one stop, Grant’s Farm can offer that, too, by visiting Grant’s Cabin, The Bauernhof (German “Farmstead” and Restaurant), and all the other historical treasures.
You can also attend one of the fun animal education attractions listed below or have a private tour of some of the historical places by calling ahead of time.
- Elephant Education: Grant’s Farm is proud to provide “edutainment” (education through entertainment) with the Elephant Education Show. Guests will be introduced to members of our elephant herd and learn about their behavior and conservation in this interactive demonstration. Show Times: 11:15 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 2:15 p.m.
- Animal Encounters: The Tier Garten animals will entertain visitors with their athletic abilities in this close-up, interactive encounter. Show Times: 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m.
- Tier Garten: One of the major highlights of any visit to Grant’s Farm is the “edutaining” animal shows in the Tier Garten amphitheater. Guests will get an up-close look at an amazing variety of animals, including kangaroos, tortoises, colorful birds, and various other animals. Visitors can enjoy petting and hand-feeding some of the animals, including the many pygmy goats.
Something for Everyone
There are tons of fun things for the kiddos, but how many tourist attractions actually have a really cool place for the dads, too? Grant’s farm offers an amazing German food stop for a bit of that German flare, and each guest can also enjoy two complimentary Anheuser Busch beers while visiting “The Bauernhof.” The guys can learn all about the Busch Family and their legacy of the Anheuser Busch Brewery while the kids get to enjoy the beautiful Clydesdales while in their stables. Moms get to enjoy a great shopping experience at the gift shop and all of the family fun!
