This bourgeoning Iowa micro chain has opened its newest location on bustling Court Ave downtown, bringing gourmet burgers, sandwiches, and specialty salads alongside craft beers.
Northern Vessel Coffee Shop | 1201 Keosauqua Way
This self-proclaimed “transient brand” started as a coffee cart and will officially open its brick-and-mortar location this fall. Follow them on social media for updates!
Outlets of Des Moines | 801 Bass Pro Dr. NW, Altoona
In its fifth year, they are welcoming more stores than ever, including already opened J.Crew Factory and Bizzy’s Boutique. Look for even more like Forever 21 and Victoria’s Secret this year.
Costco | 4000 NE Spectrum Drive, Ankeny
It’s about time! The second Costco in the metro is scheduled to open in November in Ankeny, meeting the needs of the growing northern suburb and hopefully, taming the crowds at the existing location.

Von Maur | 101 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines
Moving and growing from its Valley West Location, Von Maur at Jordan Creek is slated to open on November 3. This will join eight other stores opening this fall, like the return of much adored Lovesac.
Big Grove Brewery | 555 17th Street
With an impressive build-out of the old Crescent Chevy building on Sherman Hill, Big Grove rolled into town this summer along with its massive outdoor area. Craft beer and a fresh take on brewpub fare make it a must-try.

Coming later this year to join Big Grove in the Crescent building in Sherman Hill, HomeGrown offers breakfast and lunch utilizing locally sourced ingredients for its unique dishes like their homemade Pop Tart.
