Healthy Snack Ideas for Busy FamiliesAt The Livewell Clinic, nutrition is an important component of health that my husband and I discuss daily with our patients. We know it can be a struggle to make healthy food choices, especially for busy moms and families on the go, and often times people ask us for suggestions and what our family eats.

Let me say first off, we are not perfect! Most days we choose healthy, clean options for our family, but we are human, so of course we will partake in snacks and treats not on our normal “list” from time to time.

Here are some of our go-to snacks that fill our kiddos’ bellies without setting them on a path of sugar rages:

  • Organic Wholly Guacamole Cups from Costco with Quinoa Chips from Trader Joes
  • Lara Bars (found at health food stores, or even better — make your own)
  • Energy Balls (made with almond butter, honey, oats, dried fruit/nuts, and other healthy ingredients)
  • Apples and almond butter
  • Celery sticks with almond butter/sun butter and Enjoy Life chocolate chips
  • Carrots or other veggies and hummus
  • Homemade Trail Mix (nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips, dried coconut)
  • Coconut Flakes from Trader Joes
  • Smoothies (a great way to use up fruits and vegetables in your fridge that are on the fringe)
  • Turkey/Ham slice roll-ups with hummus
  • Applesauce pouches
  • Kale Chips
  • Coconut Butter pouches (found at Whole Foods)
  • Dehydrated chickpeas with seasoning
  • Enjoy Life SunButter Bars
