As a stay-at-home mom to three active boys, summer is full of adventures! I love doing ALL the things with my boys. Every year when school is out we sit together to make a summer bucket list. They often describe what they want to do, and I am left guessing what they are talking about. “You know mom that place with the big slide!” AKA Union Park. “Oh mom! I want to snuggle goats!” AKA Howell’s Farm.

Go to a parade – a favorite of ours is Johnston Green Days
Spend a day at Adventureland
Watch fireworks
Cool off at a splashpad – we love Legion Park
Go to a Farmers market
Get snowcones by Jordan Creek Mall and feed the ducks
Go to the Iowa State Fair
Go fishing
Visit a new park like Barrett Boesen Park Natural Playscape in Urbandale
Try paddle boarding
Have a water balloon fight
See animal races at Prairie Meadows
Fly a kite
Check out an outdoor concert
Enjoy a day at a beach day – Ledges State Park or Racoon River
Catch a baseball game
Go mini golfing
Make s’mores
Snuggle goats at Howell’s Farm
Try a waterslide
Take a nature walk
See an outdoor movie
Pick strawberries at Center Grove
Plant a garden
Have a picnic
Go to a festival
Mom tip: print your summer bucket list and have your kids pick the activity. My boys absolutely love being in control and think it is the best when they get to plan the day.
