Memorial Day isn’t just the unofficial beginning of summer or an extended weekend. In 1968 the last Monday in May was created as a federal holiday to remember the men and women who died while serving and defending our country.
My family usually attends a Memorial Day service at a local cemetery before joining family and friends for a picnic. With so many family members who were in all branches of the armed forces, our gatherings are usually filled with plenty of military stories.
No matter how you enjoy your long weekend, you can add a bit of patriotic color to your day!

Beat Boredom
Whether your festivities are indoors or out, sooner or later someone if going to get bored. Be ready with YOXO, made-in-the-USA toys that fuel the imagination.

Thank the Troops
Though Memorial Day is about remembering the soldiers who have died, there is never a bad time to thank our soldiers who wear the uniform now.
A Million Thanks, Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, and Soldiers Angels all have letter writing campaigns to active duty soldiers around the world.
