NAMIWalks: the most meaningful event ever

0

Des Moines Mom regularly highlights local nonprofits. There are so many amazing organizations in our community dedicated to looking out for the well-being of all who live here. We want to feature them and share ways you and your family can partner with them through volunteering, giving donations, and attending amazing (now, virtual) fundraising events. If you know of a nonprofit we should feature, please email [email protected].

NAMI Iowa advocates at the county, state, and national levels for equitable access to quality healthcare, housing, education, and employment for people who experience mental health conditions. They educate the public, advocate for a comprehensive mental health system that provides effective and timely services for those struggling with mental health, and support those with mental illness and their family members.

Mission Statement

NAMI Iowa serves as a catalyst around advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all Iowans affected by mental illness can lead better lives.

How to Help

NAMI Iowa works with volunteers who present NAMI programming and educational presentations in schools, workplaces, and community organizations. More information on volunteer opportunities can be found here.

NAMI Iowa is also seeking volunteers to help during their upcoming signature NAMIWalks Iowa event in September. Volunteer duties include event set-up and operations before and during at Terra Park in Johnston. If you are interesting in helping, contact NAMI Iowa events manager, Amanda Huppert at [email protected] for more information.

Upcoming Fundraising Event

NAMIWalks 2022 is a family-friendly event to raise awareness about mental health access. It is a fun and uplifting way to show your support for mental health. Families, children, and dogs welcome! Details at here.

By joining us for NAMIWalks, you are standing with thousands of Iowans who believe in mental health for all.
