First moments begin at MercyOne, so what better way to start your pregnancy journey than with Stork Affair?
This event is for anyone who is planning to start a family, is already pregnant or plans to adopt or foster a baby.
Having a baby means having lots of questions — whether you’re the one who’s pregnant or not. The Education Expo offers a wide variety of classes including baby basics, selecting a pediatrician, raising pets and babies together, boot camp for dads, breastfeeding and a new class for first-time grandparents. Classes are offered every 25 minutes starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at noon. Each class is offered twice to allow more opportunities to attend the classes that interest you.
Take a Hospital Tour
Expecting parents want to know what to expect when they arrive at the hospital to deliver their baby. Guided tours of the MercyOne Birthing Unit, OB Emergency Department and Mother/Baby Unit will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to noon. This is your opportunity to see where you will deliver and recover, check out the amenities available, and meet the nursing staff who will be caring for you and your baby.
Car Seat Safety
Did you know that nearly half of all infant car seats are not installed correctly? Have your car seat inspected at the Car Seat Safety Check from 9 a.m. to noon. Let Mercy’s expert technicians make sure your baby’s ride is properly secured.
During the day, be sure to check out the vendor hall filled with the latest in goods and services for expecting parents and babies. There will be more than 30 vendors. Fill out a Vendor Passport for a chance to win a baby stroller from Buy Buy Baby.
And we didn’t forget the rest of the prizes! Everyone loves the opportunity to win prizes. Prizes include a diaper bag from Itzy Ritzy, tickets to see Shawn Mendes, prize baskets, and more! For each class you attend, you receive a ticket that you can use to enter to win the prizes that interest you.
When: Saturday, April 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center, 1111 6th Ave.
It’s FREE to attend! No advance registration required. Check out the full schedule of events and vendors at MercyOne.org/storkaffair.
