Hello everyone! I am honored to be joining the Des Moines Mom team. I have followed this page for a few years now and am excited to give my spin on all things motherhood from outside of the Des Moines area.

I am originally from India and was adopted when I was 21 months old. My parents raised my younger brother and me in Rockwell City, which is located in northwest Iowa. I graduated from Iowa State (Hawkeye at heart!) with a degree in Elementary Education.

Shortly after graduating, I met my now-husband, Justin, at a country concert. One of those concerts where you are parking on a gravel road or in an open field. I was one of those people who couldn’t wait to leave their small-town life but fell in love with a small-town boy. After accepting a 3rd-grade teaching position in Fort Dodge, I knew it was meant to be that I live in a small town. We made our home on an acreage about 15 miles from each of our parents, the perfect distance!

We dated for about four years before we got married. A week after the wedding, I found out I was pregnant. So began a whirlwind of a pregnancy ending with our twin boys, Max and Corbin being born at 27 weeks and spending over a combined 150 days in the NICU at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

I will be forever grateful to those doctors and nurses who took care of my babies during that scary time. It was all quite a blur to me as a first-time mom. Flash forward three years and I can’t help but get emotional looking at my two healthy boys living their best lives. Nowadays, we are currently enjoying the toddler stage and everything that comes with it.

I love being a mom and a teacher, they are my two passions. I am still working on figuring out how to balance the two. Some days are easier than others, but I am excited to be on this journey with everyone where we can all learn from each other.
