Des Moines Moms Blog is growing our team and we want YOU!
Our team of moms inspire, encourage, support, inform, and simply share this journey of motherhood we’re all navigating together. We are moms of all ages, with kids in every stage, who have a mission and passion to connect moms in our community on and offline.
We want to expand our team to represent a wide variety, including Latina and African American mamas, baby-wearing and stroller mamas, moms of teens, twins, toddlers, all boys, all girls, mix of the two, only one child, and adoptive moms; downtown, suburban, and rural moms; single, married, crunchy, traditional moms, and more.
Being a part of our team gives you the chance to connect with others, share motherhood, and utilize your professional skill sets.

We are looking for volunteer writers, event committee members, and a Pinterest contributor as well as a paid sales coordinator. See application details below.

OPEN POSITIONS
Writer
This is a volunteer position, but there are some really fun perks in exchange for your time and energy.
Writer Responsibilities
- Provide a minimum of one original posts per month on the topic of your choice (within the brand and mission of DMMB)
- Find and create images to include in posts
- Work closely with editor to meet monthly deadlines
- Opportunity to test out products and/or services for review as they become available to DMMB
Writer Qualifications
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (written and verbal)
- Basic knowledge of WordPress, SEO, hyperlinks, etc. preferred
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Professional grammar
- Creativity and insightful in developing content that resonates with and encourages fellow moms and other caregivers
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on commitments
- Represent Des Moines Moms Blog in a positive and professional manner at all times

Sales Coordinator
The Sales Coordinator is a contract, commission-based position that will solicit and manage new businesses for sponsored guides, events, projects, and partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Solicits new advertising business from any local business that would attract moms in the Des Moines area.
- Helps develop Sponsored Guide campaigns that meet the needs of Des Moines Moms Blog readers and bring in optimal profit (ie: strategic, timely, comprehensive)
- Sets weekly goals to include businesses to reach out to, as well as a number of contacts to make each week
- Works with owners to develop a year-round strategy for sponsored guides – both for new guides and renewal and growth of repeat sponsored guides (examples – Direct Sales, Summer Camp, Schools etc)
- Coordinates all sponsored guides (ie: receives images and information from advertiser, coordinates with the owner when invoicing is needed, plans out social media posts and coordinates with social media coordinator and/or owner)
- Builds the sponsored guides in WordPress
- Schedules and adds image ads to Adrotate
- Creates featured images for sponsored guides
- Actively work with the DMMB Executive Team; additionally, interact with City Moms Blog Network Site Support Staff on best practices
- Other various projects on a case by case basis.
- Respond to emails in a timely manner (24 hours when possible, but always within 48 hours).
- Maintain consistent communication with owners about projects.
- Represent Des Moines Moms Blog in a positive and professional manner at all times
Qualifications
- Excellent writing and strong communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Passionate about Des Moines businesses and Des Moines area moms
- 1+ years of experience in Sales and/or Marketing
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on commitments.
- Experience with WordPress, basic HTML coding and Visual Composer plug-in, but willing to train the right person

Event Committee Member
We are looking for moms to help assist the Event Coordinator and the co-owners with the planning and execution of our larger quarterly events and smaller one-off events we hold each year. This is a volunteer position.
Responsibilities
- Partner with DMMB Co-owners and Event Coordinator to serve as point of contact for Des Moines Moms Blog events
- Solicit event sponsors, vendors, swag bag items and giveaway prizes via phone, email and social media, continually brainstorming and pursuing new partners
- Assist with event: set-up, execution, and tear down as directed by co-owners and Event Coordinator
- Attend event team meetings (monthly; every 2 weeks as event approaches)
- Respond to emails in a timely manner (48 hours)
- Brainstorm new ideas for Des Moines Moms Blog events
- Represent Des Moines Moms Blog in a positive and professional manner at all times
Qualifications
- Comfortable with selling sponsorships, vendor spaces, and asking for swag bag and giveaway prizes
- Impeccable attention to detail, organized, and creative
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (written and verbal)
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on commitments
- Being a part of the Event Committee gets you a free ticket to all our events and a swag bag (if applicable) to events they actively assisted in planning.

Pinterest Contributor
Do you LOVE finding inspiration and ideas on Pinterest? We are looking for a savvy, pinterest-loving mom to help manage, create, and organize DMMB’s pinterest account.
Responsibilities
- Along with co-owners and Social Media Coordinator, serve as the point person for DMMB’s presence on Pinterest
- Pin new blog content, using applicable keywords and descriptions, on to relevant boards as well as other related content weekly
- Organize and update current pinterest boards and create new boards as needed
- Help to promote DMMB on Pinterest and drive traffic to our website
- Brainstorm new ideas for Des Moines Moms Blog pinterest account
- Respond to emails in a timely manner (48 hours)
- Represent Des Moines Moms Blog in a positive and professional manner at all times
Qualifications
- Impeccable attention to detail, organized, and creative
- Understanding of Pinterest including best practices and the latest trends
- Solid understanding of Pinterest SEO and how to best utilize
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on commitments
