About GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines

GiGi’s Playhouse is a community of achievement centers serving individuals with Down syndrome and their families. They offer therapeutic and educational programs free of charge so that cost is never a barrier to participation or achievement. What started as a single location in a Chicago suburb, has grown into an international phenomenon with 40 permanent locations spreading awareness and inspiration to everyone it touches.

All of the programs at GiGi’s Playhouse aim to maximize self-confidence and empower individuals to attain their greatest potential. By helping individuals with Down syndrome reach their greatest potential, they continue to change outdated perceptions and enrich the quality of many more lives.

Mission Statement

To increase positive awareness of Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational and therapeutic programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community.

How to Get Involved

Your support is so much more than just a donation of time, it’s an amazing gesture of compassion in helping individuals achieve their greatest potential. GiGi’s Playhouse is a global community whose “ABCs” start with achievement, belief, and confidence! The i Have a Voice Gala is their largest and most important fundraiser of the year, and it’s key to expanding their voice in the world. To sign up to volunteer at the Gala click here

To be a programming volunteer, the first step is filling out the volunteer application. GiGi’s is always looking for new volunteers to assist with programs, holiday parties, events, and more. After filling out the volunteer application, the next step toward volunteering is to attend a Volunteer Orientation. At the orientation, you will learn about Down syndrome, the history of GiGi’s, and GiGi’s programming. View GiGi’s calendar and programs offered here

Don’t Miss these Fun Ways to Get Involved!

GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines is hosting its annual i have a Voice Pure Imagination International Gala on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

The gala is their largest and most important fundraiser of the year and its key to expanding our voice in the world. The 2019 i have a Voice Gala is going to be a night you won’t forget. This year’s event will feature everlasting gobs of entertainment with an inspirational keynote speaker David Egan, music by DJ DAS, a sit-down dinner, silent auction, live auction, dessert auction, raffle, live entertainment, and more!

You can be a true hero in the lives of children and adults with Down syndrome and their families by supporting the 2019 i have a Voice Gala as a silent auction donor, monetary donor, or attendee. Your help will make dreams come true!

Because of your generosity, more individuals will learn to read, improve their health and wellness, develop career skills, and live truly beautiful lives. More communities will embrace individuals with Down syndrome as equals and friends. Miracles do happen at GiGi’s Playhouse, where they turn belief into achievement.

Most importantly, the Gala is an opportunity to celebrate achievements and continue to change the way people view Down syndrome through participants’ amazing self-confidence (and of course, their sweet dance moves!) The Willy Wonka theme is the perfect opportunity to use Pure Imagination, but if you want to desert the idea altogether, it’s black tie optional.

It’s going to be scrumdidilyupmptious!
