Two Local Moms Share Their Experience: GroupEx With Geneva

1

Remember all those excuses we make why we can’t or don’t have time to exercise? Geneva Ross, a local mom and owner of GroupEx with Geneva can help you overcome those.

DMMB writers Angela and Jody had the chance to work with Geneva and shared their thoughts with you in March, and today we’ll hear from two local moms who have since embraced Geneva’s approach and are making amazing changes in their lives!

  • Individual Consulting and Plan Development: Geneva will design your plan according to your needs, your goals, your limitations, and the time and equipment that is available to you.
  • “Mom-to-Mom” Approach: Geneva is a ‘real’ mom just like you. She understands how hard it is to fit in exercise! Geneva is passionate about helping people be healthy and meet their goals without any pressure or judgement. She meets you where you are, talks with you about limitations and finds the perfect solution for you.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Working with Geneva is beyond flexible for our busy lives and the different ages and stages we are all currently in. Options are 2x per week to 1x per month, or clustering 2 sessions in one month then coming back several weeks later. It all depends on individual goals, motivation, schedules, and finances. Geneva has clients she sees weekly, and some just here and there, but all are working hard and seeing results! She highly recommends training with a friend – so grab a girlfriend and go see Geneva together!
  • Budget Considerations: Don’t think of this like that gym membership you pay for and don’t use, Geneva’s prices are extremely affordable. If you have a limited budget, don’t see her every week. Schedule out a month to learn new exercises and set new goals, yet stay accountable to moving forward.

Our March Giveaway winner and local mom, Susan Brown shares:

Training Pic 2 (2)

“I really enjoyed this experience. Prior to winning these sessions, I had been thinking about the need to start eating a little better and moving a little more. This opportunity was just the kick-start I needed. I was actually a little anxious when I found out I won (I felt really out of shape), but any anxiety I felt subsided when I met Geneva!

I have tried a lot of different fitness programs/settings (haven’t we all?), but I was really impressed with Geneva. Geneva started by asking me about what sorts of activities I liked (kickboxing, things we could do as a family) and which I disliked (elliptical). She also asked about my daily routine (where could fitness fit?) as well as what sort of equipment I had available to me in my home. Her consideration of all these factors was evident in the plan she designed for me; she really designed a custom routine with my success in mind!

I was especially excited by the opportunity to bring my little girl, Caroline, to our sessions; childcare has been a significant obstacle when I have considered other programs in the past. Geneva’s nanny is absolutely wonderful and my daughter really enjoyed playing with Geneva’s son. My daughter was a little clingy one morning and the kids ended up becoming part of the session, but Geneva rolled with it and gave me a great session despite repeated interruptions. Toddlers are very good resistance for strength training! On another occasion, I ended up leaving my daughter at home with Dad and the nanny seemed genuinely disappointed that Caroline didn’t come!

I truly enjoyed working with Geneva. I had a top notch experience and I never felt pressured to sign up for additional sessions. Geneva developed a plan that I could follow on my own with the option to schedule occasional sessions with her to check on my progress (accountability is so important!). I honestly feel as though Geneva offers this service because she is passionate about helping people live their best lives through wellness. I would highly recommend Geneva to anyone!”

Another DMMB Reader and mom of three, Susan Core says:

“It had literally been years since I had really taken the time to work out on a consistent basis and knew that I would have a very hard time motivating myself and making the time to start up a routine and stick with it. I was intrigued by the Des Moines Mom’s Blog post about Geneva and the personal training she offers and was even more excited to see the price and the fact that I could bring my kids along with me – how perfect is that?

I was very impressed with how thorough Geneva was in the various questions she asked through the initial assessment process and was so open to hearing what my limitations were with current back and neck concerns. She did a wonderful job providing answers to all the questions I had and gave me a step-by-step routine with enough variety to keep me going. She also ensured I was working out with the right form to not cause pain or injury. She truly came up with a workout plan that was tailored to my immediate needs and what I currently had available to me – in relation to both time and equipment.

I am half-way through my sessions with her and love that she lets me determine when we meet again – which keeps the accountability going for a longer period of time. Geneva is so easy going and easy to talk to. I have really enjoyed my sessions with her and highly recommend her to anyone that is needing a jump start on their workout routines.”
