5 Easy Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

earth dayCelebrate Earth Day, April 22, with these simple ideas.

Earth Day began in 1970 and is now celebrated in more than 192 countries each year! This year, Earth Day’s theme is “Climate Action.”

Here are 5 things to do with your family this year to celebrate our wonderful Earth.

Celebrate Earth Day with Your Family

1. Build a Bird House/Feeder

This is a fun, easy and inexpensive project for kids to do as well as a project that includes watching nature! Make bird feeders out of apples to orange peels to bundt pans. Check out ideas here.

2. Create a Home Recycling Center

If you already recycle at home, good for you! If not, first be sure to check what is okay to be recycled where you live and then try implementing some of these ideas from apartmenttherapy.com.

3. Get Outside

This might be the most simple, but most important one. Take some time out of the day to make sure you’re outside enjoying the nature around you. Take a walk, go on a bike ride, or even just sit outside for some Vitamin D.

4. Plant Something

Even if you are not a pro at gardening, (I’m definitely not!) we can all take time to plant something and make a project out of it with the kids. Plus if you plant something seasonal, it’s fun to have something to look forward to next year as well!

5. Try Earth Day Yoga

Earth Day yoga poses may be a fun activity to learn while talking about different elements of Earth! Check out some poses here.
